چکیده

The present study focuses on source rock evaluation of the Sargelu Formation by using core chips rocks collected from well Atrush-2, Duhok, Kurdistan Region-Iraq. Rock-Eval pyrolysis and vitrinite reflectance were executed. Subsequently, selected parameters used for 1-D Basin Modelling calibration. upper part formation mainly comprises argillaceous limestone with low content organic matter (0.64% - 1% TOC). By contrast, lower is dominated shale interval contains high amounts TOC values (>4% 1272 1278 m) reveling good to very quality rock. Accordingly, hydrocarbon generation potential suggested this formation. Organic type II mixed-type II-III kerogen. Tmax (Ro%) demonstrate that thermally mature in oil zone. In order construct a thermal history determine timing maturation generation, basin modelling PetroMod 2019.1 was study. Based simulation its outputs, about 3500 m overburden have been eroded at area. present-day heat flow found be 30 mW/m2. entered early zone 64 Ma reached main ca. 5 Ma. still present-day. highest rate 8.5 Ma, onset expulsion 50 mass has 0.5 Mtons

A total of 183 core and cutting samples from seven exploratory wells were selected to be analyzed by Rock-Eval pyrolysis. These cores have been drilled through the Lam and Meem Members of the Madbi Formation and contain the major source rocks of Yemen´s sedimentary basins. Contents of total organic carbon were measured and Rock-Eval pyrolysis was performed to evaluate the hydrocarbon potential ...
